Hello.
My name is Lindsey.
And I'm a Coca-Cola-holic.
In the spirt of the Lenten season, I have given up carbonated drinks.
As you know, Mardi Gras, or Fat Tuesday, is the last day before Lent. It's the last day of indulgence. And indulging I did. I drank a large coke from McD's and it was delicious and satisfying. I didn't think giving up Cokes would be hard. I stopped drinking cokes all together when I found out I was pregnant with Jack and it wasn't bad, so this wouldn't be too terrible either. WRONG. Today is Sunday, and I am struggling!!!
Bobs decided to make drunk chicken for lupper (Lunch/Supper). Drunk chicken is when you roast a whole chicken on a stand that has an opening for a can of coke, beer, juice, any drink. It makes the chicken nice and juicy.Usually we have cokes or sprites in the fridge, or maybe a beer or two. But today we had NOTHING. So Bobs asks me to go to the store to get something. OK. I go to Walmart and buy the cheapest thing I can get... the generic Coke Zero- $1.50 for a 6-pack. This way, I won't be tempted to drink it, because I am not a fan of Coke Zero. I drink the real thing, honey.
I come home and Bobs opens the can. Even the sound of opening a drink can gives me the shakes... a sound I am all too familiar with. But, alas. I did not give in and drink the generic coke zero. Bobs had a taste and said it was disgusting, so that made me feel better too.
Eliminating carbonated drinks from your diet is also a good way to drop a few pounds, so this will help me also.
